This Privacy Policy explains how RareName (“RareName,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use rarename.me and our related services (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

• Information you provide: your name and email (when you sign up, subscribe to our newsletter, or request a sign-in link); the business descriptions and names you search; and the entity type and formation state you select for a Secretary of State search.
• Payment information: payments are processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card number or security code. We retain non-sensitive payment records (e.g., amount, Stripe identifiers, the name searched).
• Automatically collected: basic usage and device information, a browser-stored identifier we use to remember you on your device, and logs of affiliate link clicks (which vendor, which page).

How we use your information

• To provide the Service — generating names and running domain, web, trademark, and state checks.
• To create and recognize your account and to send sign-in links you request.
• To process payments for the Secretary of State search.
• To send the newsletter, if you subscribe (you can unsubscribe any time).
• To operate, secure, and improve the Service and prevent abuse.

Service providers we use

We share limited information with third-party providers that process data on our behalf solely to operate the Service. These include a database and authentication provider (account data and passwordless sign-in), a hosting and content-delivery provider (IP address and request logs), an email delivery provider (your email address, to send sign-in links), Stripe (payment processing), and OpenAI (name generation — your business description is sent to generate candidate names). We also use infrastructure providers that run our web-presence, domain-availability, trademark, and Secretary of State checks; these receive only generated name candidates — never your name, email, or payment data.

We name Stripe and OpenAI specifically because Stripe's terms require it and because OpenAI receives the description of your idea — we believe you have a right to know that explicitly. All other providers are infrastructure vendors processing only the data needed to deliver their part of the Service, and are contractually prohibited from using it for their own purposes. We do not sell your personal information.

Cookies and local storage

We use your browser's local storage to remember you on your device (so you don't have to sign up again) and minimal cookies necessary to operate the site. You can clear these at any time in your browser.

Affiliate links

Some links to recommended providers are affiliate links — we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Clicking such a link may share standard web information (such as your referring page) with that provider under their own privacy policy.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as needed to provide the Service and for legitimate business or legal purposes. You may request that we delete your information (see below).

Your choices and rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you can unsubscribe from our emails at any time. Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have additional rights. To exercise any of these, contact us at support@rarename.me.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and restricted database access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

The Service is intended for adults and is not directed to anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above when we do.
